Arkansas lawmakers on Tuesday approved a religious-freedom bill similar to the one recently passed in Indiana that critics say creates the potential for businesses and others to legally discriminate against people because of their sexual orientation.
The state’s Republican-led House gave final approval to the bill, which prohibits the state and local governments from infringing on a person’s religious beliefs without a “compelling” interest. The measure now goes to Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who has said he will sign it into law.
Doug McMillon, the CEO of Arkansas-based Wal-Mart, issued a statement Tuesday pressing Hutchinson to “veto this legislation,” and adding that the law would “undermine the spirit of inclusion” in the state. here
There’s a lot of “undermining” going on but it’s coming from the radical Left, Democrats and the willfully uninformed, wish-washy.
We shouldn’t have any laws stating who a company must hire or fire, which ‘undermines’ the very foundation of personal freedom. If a company owner doesn’t want to hire a hispanic or Arab, that his is prerogative. By definition, “discrimination” IS a two-way street. When one is ‘discriminated against’, on the other side, discrimination has transpired against someone else: government force person A to hire personal B; therefore, person A was “discriminated” against and lost his personal liberty to choose.
When government says, you must hire X# of ‘minorities’, government is discriminating against the ‘non minority’ as well as the company owner rights. It should not be up the government, any government in this country, to legally force an individual to hire any particular person. Either we have freedom and liberty or we do not.
Both Indiana and now Arkansas are coming under fire from the usual suspect, for making a law to protect individuals and their “religious views” and freedoms. Radical Liberals groups have joined up the uber homosexual groups who want to demand government to force individuals to go against their religious freedoms. A Christian has the right to tell a homosexual couple she will not be able to make them a wedding cake, since it goes against her principles and beliefs. Just as a muslim hotel owner has the right to tell his guest he doesn’t allow dogs in the room. But that doesn’t make the rabid Left happy.
The end game of these anti-American, anti-religious bigots is to have government force citizens to do its Liberal bidding. In this instance, the radical Leftist won’t stop until First Baptist Church is legally forced to marry homosexuals and lesbians . . . and that probably by some trans-gender whatever. This is where America is being lead. Down the dark path of government tyranny where “rights”, God-given or Constitutional, become whatever Government says they are.
“The Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting”
This is what Liberalism is trying to end . . . American’s freedom of religion by saying all Christian beliefs and religious freedoms are bigotry. This Government, exactly like a Communist government, loathes ‘religious freedom’, since Government believes it’s the end all, not God. That Government decides who gets what, who’s free and what is legal.
Time will tell how far this goes, but I see the day when our government will decide that it’s discrimination for church not to marry homosexuals and they’ll be punished. Something unthinkable up til just a few years ago. But in their lust for more and more power and control, as they enrich themselves, Liberal-theist in government are destroying our personal freedoms while too many Americans tweet about some bimbo Kardashian and her tremendous buttocks. God have mercy.
