"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." Ecclesiastes 10:2
“For some reason, we’re brainwashed to think if you’re not a thug or an idiot, you’re not black enough,” he said. “If you go to school, make good grades, speak intelligent and don’t break the law, you’re not a good black person. … As a black person, we all go through it when you’re successful.” This isn’t the first time Barkley’s fired off some brow-raising remarks. Barkley said he wasn’t at all surprised.
“There are a lot of black people who are unintelligent, who don’t have success,” Barkley said. “It’s best to knock a successful black person down ’cause they’re intelligent, they speak well, they do well in school, and they’re successful. It’s crabs in a barrel. … We’re the only ethnic group that says, ‘hey, if you go to jail, it gives you street cred.’ The concept of “crabs in a barrel” isn’t new, and it’s universal. If you’ve ever seen a bucket of crabs at the market, the ones at the bottom will try to pull down the crabs that are closer to the top.
“I lived this, and if it weren’t for my parents I wouldn’t have pushed through it,” here
Barkley also said, that “blacks will never be successful. Not because of you white people, but because of other black”. He went on to expand with the comments above. And the brilliant Mr. Barkley is 1000% correct. It simply has more “street cred” coming from a black man, than a white. But it’s demeaning to both black and white people. We’re told that we shouldn’t ‘judge a man by his color, but by his character. But it also seems that it applies only to ‘certain’ folks making ‘certain’ remarks.
I’ve heard for several decades what Barkley recounted. Blacks people “acting white” — an extremely racists and bigoted comment, which isn’t only insulting to the black person, but is a racial slur toward white people as well. It’s a term used to demean and cut down. So why do blacks use it hurt other blacks? Liberalism, which loves to insult it’s ‘enemies’, while claiming to be tolerant. It’s also part of hated and jealousy.
But is there must be more to it? It’s a way to ‘bring down’ the person you’re insulting by negative, racist motivated term… to keep them ‘on the plantation’ of government dependence, laziness and mental decline.
So, what is “acting white”: studying, doing well in educational platforms, speaking correct English and not some phonied-up colloquial of the non-existent “black English”. The verb “to be” is never used with the pronoun, “I”. And doing so, it shows not only their lack of education, but a rejection of education. Not willing to learn grammar is simply laziness, which too many in our society have accepted as ‘being proud to be black’. Foolish and as Barkley said, “blacks don’t succeed because of other blacks”.
“Street cred” is defined as pride in going to jail or prison. How pathetically sad it is, when a group of young men and women, decide that bad, illegal behavior is cool and credible. That is the attitude of thugs and bums, not young people who have a desire to become self-sufficient and earning wealth the old-fashioned way — by working. Before so many woman depended on government ‘handouts’ to raise kids, those kids were raised by families. Moms and dads who taught morals, ethics, values and personal standards, thereby, creating successful adults. We still have those, of course, but with 72% of black kids growing up in fatherless homes, not as many as there should be (here). It’s simply immoral.
That is a shameful disgrace, not something to be proud of nor to emulate. How tragic that this attitude has been adopted by so many in the ‘black community’. They’ve not only hurt and punished themselves, but their children. Chris Gardner worked hard for what he wanted for himself and his son (here ). So did Herman Cain, Cong. Allen West and Justice Clarence Thomas. And that should be the goal of every parent, every child, every American: hard work pays off. It can pay in monetary gain, but more importantly: self-respect and the respect of others.
American wants better for her children . . . all her children, for when they succeed, we all succeed and American remains successful.
