A faded fragment of papyrus known as the “Gospel of Jesus’s Wife,” which caused an uproar when unveiled by a Harvard Divinity School historian in 2012, has been tested by scientists who conclude in a journal published on Thursday that the ink and papyrus are very likely ancient, and not a modern forgery.
Skepticism about the tiny scrap of papyrus has been fierce because it contained a phrase never before seen in any piece of Scripture: “Jesus said to them, ‘My wife…’ ” Too convenient for some, it also contained the words “she will be able to be my disciple,” a clause that inflamed the
The papyrus fragment has now been analyzed by professors of electrical engineering, chemistry and biology at Columbia University, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who reported that it resembles other ancient papyri from the fourth to the eighth centuries. ….full article: here video is found here
I’ll be simple and direct: as a Christian, I can say without any qualifications or doubts that this “ancient, not fake” document is bunk, triple times over. It might well be “ancient” but that by no means proves it truthful or authentic according to the Bible.
The Bible, God’s Word to human kind, is authentic to the smallest detail. Besides being a “religious” document, it’s historical masterpiece and much more. It is also the inerrant Word of God, inerrant defined as: “freedom from error or untruths.” Unfortunately, a growing number of (so called) Christians dismiss that as untrue. It’s not.
Therefore it’s impossible for Jesus, the living Son of God, the God- man, Savior and Creator, to have been “married”. And yet on the video, the “reverend” (who should go back to seminary for a refresher course, Paul Raushenbush) seems unable or unwilling to take a stand on the baloney of the “ancient but not fake” document. That makes him a prime example of what’s wrong with the ‘church’ of 2014. It’s filled of false doctrine, false teachers and literal heresy. Perhaps Rev. Raushenbush was simple to intimidate to speak the truth, but if that were the case, he should have declined the interview.
As for the ‘document’, it might well be ancient as the “scholars” have claimed, but it is a “fake” in that it’s a lie. I have no doubt there are all sorts of authentic, aged documents floating around that have nary a glimmer of truth nor fact in them. This ‘gospel of Jesus wife’ is simple another one. All to persuade humanity that Jesus the Christ was not and is not, Who He claimed Himself to be. Praise and thank God for every soul who knows the Truth.
