"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." Ecclesiastes 10:2
If Republicans want to change their stance on immigration, they should do so on the merits, not out of a belief that only immigration policy stands between them and a Republican Hispanic majority. It is not immigration policy that creates the strong bond between Hispanics and the Democratic party, but the core Democratic principles of a more generous safety net, strong government intervention in the economy, and progressive taxation. Hispanics will prove to be even more decisive in the victory of Governor Jerry Brown’s Proposition 30, which raised upper-income taxes and the sales tax, than in the Obama election. (cut).
I spoke last year with John Echeveste, founder of the oldest Latino marketing firm in southern California, about Hispanic politics. “What Republicans mean by ‘family values’ and what Hispanics mean are two completely different things,” he said. “We are a very compassionate people, we care about other people and understand that government has a role to play in helping people.” here
And what I (and many, many others) have been saying for years. In all honestly, Democrats don’t care about our Constitution, any “fiscal cliff” , our laws, when it gets in their way — they care about power, staying in office, buying votes — at any cost. They buy the votes of illegal and legal immigrants by giving away “free stuff”, which is of course, paid for by America citizens who pay taxes. This is why they sue states regarding illegal migrants and are against voter ID. Votes and voters. Get the people here, create new voters by giving away money via welfare, WIC, food stamps, unemployment.
Even the poor in this nation aren’t poor by world standards. They have satellite TV, cell phones (“Obama phones”), enough to eat not to starve, money coming in from the government as least once a month, paid NOT to work, so they vote for Democrats. These people can live nicely on money and good give- aways, provided by American taxpayers.
It might well be Republicans will not win another national election. The establishment Repub’s will have an ‘anal exam’ and convince themselves and Republican voters that they too must be for immorality, unethical behavior and give- aways. And starting moving to the Left, (here) and call it being “moderate”.
Democrats have destroyed the very foundation of America, via their liberal, unethical policies. Of course, as Margaret Thatcher said, ‘sooner or later, you run out of “other peoples money” to buy those voters — and you end up looking like Greece. Riots in the streets as a broke and broken central government can’t continue to give away goodies to the greedy.
“….we care about other people and understand that government has a role to play in helping people.” — yeah, sure, but that old saying, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help” sends cold chills down the backs of thinking people. We know better. More government – less freedom.
