Is “Retarded” Retarded Or The Newest “R” Word?

Ann Coulter has gotten some big time hammering for her use of the word “retarded” in her Tweet the other day.  Not just by the bomb throwers on the Left who enjoy hating Conservatives so much that they drool at the thought, but by some on the Right who are and/or claim to be Conservatives.  Personally, I think it’s much ado about nothing.

I understand what these conservative people are saying — I just don’t agree.

But honestly, it’s just word.  Retarded isn’t a curse word.  It’s not a foul word used to describe “womanly parts” that Democrats seem to think women now vote with (having Early voted yesterday, I can promise you, I saw NO woman voting with those parts, but maybe they were all Republicans).  Retarded also isn’t the “F Bomb” that Leftist like Bob Beckel (gosh only knows why he’s still on FNC) love to throw into their conversations.

It’s just a word that some have decided is ‘offensive’ — as if it were the ‘F bomb’, the ‘C bomb’, the ‘N bomb’ or the “constitution” bomb, which now “offends” some people.  “Overly sensitive”?  HECK, YES!

I can be a bit ornery, I admit — I don’t like other people dictating to me, what I can drink nor in what size cup.  I can make those decisions just fine — that’s defined as personal freedom and not illegal.  I also don’t appreciate people sitting around in their ‘ivory towers’ or Mom’s basement and thinking up words they choose to classify as “offensive”.   We also have something called freedom of speech (excluding all those really nasty curse words that shouldn’t be thrown at people because someone is too ignorant to find a descent word).

Retarded simply means slow, slower than others and someone who was most likely born with a handicap.  Not “mentally challenged” — more phoney terms dreamed up by the highly offendable, to tell the rest of us, what we’re ‘allowed’ to say.  For the most part, it’s all foolish dribble.  A midget is a midget, a dwarf a dwarf. . . “little people” is really on the top of the Foolish Things People Say List.  Along with retarded

There’s little mocking of the handicapped (not “challenged”) any longer.  People learned quickly that they’d get called all those nasty names we were told were so  . . . . . .   “offensive”.  And by the same folks that demand not to be ‘offended’.  Go figure.

Retarded has a definition and you won’t find ‘challenged’ any where in it.  But it can be a challenge to carry on a normal conversation with an easily offendable liberal, who of course, is so much wiser’n smarter than anyone else in the room.  Just ask them.
