Chick-fil-A’s apparent decision to stop giving money to anti-gay groups and not engage in social or political debates has sparked another heated discussion — and new backlash — on its Facebook page from those who say the company has “caved in.”
The report of the company’s about-face comes from a Chicago rights lobby, The Civil Rights Agenda, that says Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno has confirmed that the fast-food company will no longer give money to anti-gay organizations and has clarified in an internal document that it will “treat every person equally, regardless of sexual orientation.”
The move comes two months after Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy caused an uproar — followed by boycotts and counter-boycotts — by saying his company was “guilty as charged” of supporting the biblical definition of the family unit.
It also was enough to prompt Moreno to drop his opposition to the opening of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Chicago.
The Atlanta-based company is largely keeping mum on the latest twist in the controversy.
“We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 restaurants run by independent owner/operators,” the statement says. “Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.” caving story: here
This was a bulling tactic used by Democrats in Chicago to literally force an independent, privately owned company to do their bidding. Once again, Democrats prove to America that they stand for the immoral, unethical and illegal. These are same of Democrats who love to decry bullying tactics against kids — and which is more than acceptable, when used against non- liberals. They’ve learned well from Barack Obama.
I’m more than sorry that Chick- Fi-l A made the decisions to relent their correct, moral stand. It’s not that they refused to hire homosexuals –this was all about donations.
This decision was done so to establish more restaurant in Chicago. I believe it was an extremely poor decision which is likely to have long term consequences. “Gay marriage” isn’t something to be endorsed by those supporting God and godly values, which is all this boils down to.
Open those restaurants in Chicago, make lots of money — they can do as they choose. I’m not the one they answer too…. but they literally had hundreds of thousands of people come out to support Chick- fil- A’s stand for what’s right. And now they’ve allowed those bullies to cause them to forsake part of their moral, Godly beliefs.
Chick- Fil- A is no longer going to donate money to Christian groups — for the sake of making more “fitly lucre”. More than a shame.
